Akamatis Nikolaos

 

Born in Thessaloniki. Graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, School of Philosophy, Department of History and Archaeology (2003).

MA studies (2004-2007) and PhD (2008-2011) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Postdoctoral Thesis at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, School of Philosophy, Department of History and Archaeology (2014-2016).

Worked as an archaeologist in the framework of the project “Restoration and Preservation of the Archaeological Site of Pella and its Environs”, supervised by the 17th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities (2006-2009, 2011-2015, nowadays Ephorate of Antiquities of Pella), as well as in the excavations of the subway of Thessaloniki supervised by the 16th Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities (2010, nowadays Ephorate of Antiquities of the City of Thessaloniki). He also participated in the museological studies and the organization of the exhibitions of the museums of Veroia and Pella. He has worked as an academic associate in the “MA in the Classical Archaeology and Ancient History of Macedonia” at the International Hellenic University (2015-2021). From 2021 he works as a researcher at the Research Centre for Antiquity of the Academy of Athens. His academic interests emphasize on pottery and numismatics, especially of the Classical and Hellenistic periods.
