Authorities
The Academy is administered according to its Founding Charter (Law 4398/1929, GG 308 vol. I, 1929) as the latter was modified by successive legislative amendments. The Presiding Board of the Academy consists of the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary General, the Secretary for Proceedings and the Secretary for Publications. The Vice-President of the preceding year becomes ex officio the next President of the Academy. The Vice-President is elected by the Ordinary Members of the Academy during the first plenary session in the December of each year, by secret ballot. The Secretary General and the two Secretaries are elected by the Ordinary Members every five years, in the last month before the expiration of their term of office.
The President's tenure of office is annual, while that of the Secretary General and of the other two Secretaries is quennial. The President, the Vice-President, the Secretary General, the other two Secretaries and the Presidents of the three Sections, constitute the Senate, which has jurisdiction over all administrative and financial issues of the Academy. The meetings of the Senate are presided over by the President of the Academy and are closed.
