Biographical note

Dr. Poupkou is a Physicist. She has an MSc in Environmental Physics and a PhD in Atmospheric Physics by the School of Physics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece). Her research interests are related to the study of the chemical composition of the atmosphere and the climate change. She has a many-year experience in the fields of air quality modeling and evaluation, atmospheric emission sources apportionment and process analysis, and anthropogenic and natural emissions estimation.

She has 50 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and 56 publications in proceedings of international peer-reviewed conferences (1517 citations from third-party, h-index 22, Source: Scopus, 07/05/2023). She has participated in more than 40 competitive research projects (FP6, FP7, Horizon2020, ETC, ESA and National; in five of them as WP leader). She has been member of the Steering Committee in 3 research projects. She has been an expert of the European Programme H2020 for Research and Innovation. She has participated in the COST action "ES0602: Towards a European Network on Chemical Weather Forecasting and Information Systems” as invited expert, and in the EU “Forum for air quality modelling in Europe”. She is member of the Scientific Committee of the Greek Initiative “Addressing climate change impacts on cultural and natural heritage”.

Dr. Poupkou has teaching experience at postgraduate level in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and in the Hellenic Open University (Courses: «Atmospheric Circulation Models», «Environmental Chemistry», «Introduction to Natural and Human Environment», «Air Pollution Management»). She has supervised more than 20 Postgraduate Diploma Theses.
